NO.1 Good good study, day day up。

NO.2 How are you ? How old are you?

Stephen Hawking, one of the world’s smartest physicists, once said: “I’m obsessed by time。 Many of us are, and the popularity of time travel TV series has just proved that。 After Palace and Startling by Each Step achieved startling ratings last year, Palace 2 aired on January 20, attracting time travel fans back to TV。 “It’s fun to watch characters travel back in time and deal with the conflicts between modernity and ancient times,” Xia Xiaoyan, who works for a foreign-owned enterprise in Shanghai, told China Daily。 Time travel series connect both today and the past, thus offering room for imagination, said Cai Yinong, the producer of Startling by Each Step。 Imagination creates a chance for the young to fulfill a dream that’s hard to achieve in reality。 Taiwan writer Xi Juan is a pioneer of time-travel stories in China. In 1993 she published a love story about a young woman time traveling to ancient times。 The protagonist’s modern personality and perception of love helps her win the heart of a cool, handsome martial art master. Such a plot satisfies female fans’ love fantasy。 Starting from late 1990s, novels about men traveling back to the past prevailed, with A Step Into the Past as the most popular example。 In these stories, the male protagonists accomplish great things with their modern skills and wisdom。 It’s usually a “dream of heroism come true”, along with enviable romances。 The big success of the TV series adapted from A Step Into the Past in 2001 has inspired TV production companies to buy up similar time travel tales. Last year saw their popularity peak。 Eye candy 人物養眼 “I’m hooked by the shows because they are characterized by dramatic and poetic love and have eye-pleasing actors,” Xia explained her love for time travel TV series。 Her comment echoes a 2011 survey by Great Marketing Research Co Ltd in China. The good old days are so alluring because we were not around, however much we wish we were,” The New York Times commented。

Apple didn't unveil a new iPhone last month -- but investors will hear the ring of healthy quarterly profits anyway. In failing to unveil a new version, the tech behemoth broke with its usual release pattern of the past few years. Yet Apple is still forecast to show earnings surging 66% to $5.85 a share when it reports results Tuesday for its fiscal third quarter ending June 26. Revenue is expected to climb 59% to $24.99 billion. The quarter did include the second iteration of the iPad, whose sales are expected to soar compared with last year, when the tablet was launched. Meanwhile, sales of Macs are likely to continue outpacing the broader PC market. But it is the iPhone, which generates about half of Apple's revenue, that determines the company's overall trajectory. Given the absence of a new version -- now expected in the fall -- iPhone sales are likely to be a little weaker than might have been expected. While a new device historically may have counted for only a few weeks of sales in the June quarter, it has had an outsize impact. Last year, Apple sold 1.7 million iPhone 4s in just three days -- 20% of the quarter's iPhones. 20%。 Even without such a boost, the momentum of the smartphone market can carry Apple a long way. Strategy Analytics estimates global smartphone shipments increased 71% in the June quarter. No surprise, then, that iPhone sales are expected to be about double the 8.4 million reported for the year-earlier period. And while sales will be down a little from the March quarter, the drop may not be much more than last year's 4% sequential decline. This is due in part to surging iPhone sales in China, according to Tony Berkman, an analyst with ITG Investment Research. China also offset recent softness in Europe. Weakness there is understandable given economic upheaval. But it likely also reflects the more troublesome issue of gains being made by Apple's big rival: Google-backed Android software that powers numerous smartphones. Cheaper, low-end Android devices now are appearing in some markets. To protect its flank, Apple needs a cheaper version of its own device. Markets will be looking for some guidance on that front Tuesday. Any news could entice investors who have recently kept an Apple out of their diet.

A Southern Californian woman called in a bomb threat to stop her husband getting on a flight at Los Angeles International Airport to visit a woman with whom she thought he was having an affair, the FBI reportedly said.

Johnna Woolfolk of Lynwood reportedly called AirTran Airways at LAX on Nov. 27 and said her husband was carrying a bomb and boarding an Atlanta-bound flight.

After FBI agents tracked her down, Woolfolk admitted the call was a hoax and that she had recently had marital difficulties, the LA Times reported.

Her husband, when he was intercepted at the airport, also said he was having marital problems and his wife wanted him to stay, FBI Special Agent David Gates said.

Woolfolk was expected to plead guilty during a Jan. 9 hearing to providing false and misleading information about the LA-Atlanta flight.

Defense lawyer Gordon Turner said on Thursday that Woolfolk, who is about 50, admitted in court and to the FBI that she made the call and she now realizes it was wrong.

Woolfolk is caring for her dying mother in the couple's Lynwood home and it has been stressful, the lawyer said, adding she also believes her husband of 30 years is having an affair and was flying to Atlanta to meet the woman.

Woolfolk broke down in tears after authorities replayed her conversation with the AirTran operator, Gates reportedly wrote in an affidavit. "She stated that she was not thinking, she did not want to hurt anyone and did not want to cause harm."

"Making a threat to an airline is a serious offense and will be prosecuted," the LA Times quoted FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller as saying. "The response to these hoaxes is a great expense to the government."

Baroness Thatcher is at the centre of a new row at Oxford University after plans to name a building after Britain's first female Prime Minister were revealed. Some academics are hoping to snub one of the university's most illustrious alumnae again - more than 25 years after protests there led to her being denied an honorary degree. Thatcher became the first Oxford educated Prime Minister since the Second World War to be refused an honorary degree from the University in 1985 following student protests amidst cuts to education. And now 17 years on a new revolt could halt plans to name a new facility after her. Oxford donor and Syrian born billionaire Wafic Saïd is said to have donated £15 million towards a new facility at Oxford's Saïd Business School, due to open in the autumn, and has indicated that he wants to name it after the women he describes as 'lioness'. But the news is not being welcomed by everyone. Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Bernard Sufrin, a fellow at Worcester College, said signatories would be 'lining up' to force a vote against the 'inconceivable' plans. He said 'I hope that those responsible for naming the building will take advice from those – now retired – leading members of the University who oversaw the embarrassing fiasco of an honorary degree for Mrs Thatcher being proposed only to be rejected by a large majority of the Congregation. 'It is inconceivable that Congregation would accede to such a naming.' Mr Siad has long been and admirer of The Iron Lady and is given the naming opportunity because he has provided at least 51 per cent of capital funding to the building. In 1996 he donated £23 million to establish the Saïd Business School at the university and he has since made an additional £15 million donation to help pay for the new building. In order for the naming to get the go ahead it must first go before a series of administrative committees and subcommittees made up of academics and officials.

A delivery man carries a bouquet of white roses for delivery on Valentine's Day in New York City February 14, 2008. Consumers will be digging deeper into their pockets to buy flowers, gift cards and chocolates on Valentine's Day with average spending expected to rise eight percent over last year to nearly $200. And along with their expanding wallets 4 million Americans are expected to pop the question or receive a proposal on Feb 14. "We've seen a consistent trend of consumers saying they will spend more, from holiday shopping to 2012 travel plans, and spending plans for Feb 14 are no exception," said Sonali Chakravorti, vice president at American Express. In its latest spending and savings tracker American Express questioned 2,000 adults across the United States to gauge how much and on what consumers will be spending their money on Cupid's big day. Nearly half of people said they intend to celebrate at a favorite restaurant, seven percent more than last year. Flowers are still the most popular gift for a Valentine, followed by gift cards, jewelry and electronics. Among couples getting betrothed, 30 percent said they would propose during a weekend getaway or vacation, which have been dubbed engagementcations. To seal the deal, 48 percent of people think an engagement ring costing between $1,000 to $5,000 would be appropriate but 22 percent said up to $2,000 for bling would be more realistic, while five percent thought nothing of spending $10,000 or more on a ring. Although nearly 40 percent of women think whoever asked for the date should pay for it, 14 percent said the bill should be split, but most unmarried men said they would cover the cost of the date. Finances can be a delicate subject, so half of people don't talk about money until they have been together six months and 20 percent of married couples did not broach the subject until after they have tied the knot. After marriage money matters can be a cause of disagreements, although the poll showed arguments over household budgets, spending on the children and everyday purchases have declined since last year. More men than women take credit for paying credit cards, property and school taxes and for filing income taxes, according to the poll, but 70 percent of women said they managed the household budgets.
